What's Up with This Period Acne?
It never fails.....
Each month, I have this oil slick across my face and acne eruptions across my jawline. It makes me feel like I'm back in middle school. I finally consulted Dr. Google and found out these facts. Hopefully they help you in the battle for a clear complexion. (Shout out to healthline.com):

Why is this happening?
It's Hormonal! Estrogen and progesterone levels drop right before your period. This triggers your sebaceous glands to secrete more sebum, an oily substance that lubricates your skin. Too much can result in clogged pores and breakouts. UHHH!
-
How do you treat it?
- Wash your face twice a day using a gentle nonsoap cleanser,
- Use glycolic acid pads to remove dead skin cells, reduce inflammation, and promote the growth of new skin.
- Use an OTC benzolyl peroxide spot treatment beginning with a lower strength, like 2.5 percent.
- Use a salicylic acid product such as cleanser or cream, to keep pores clear.
- As tempting as it maybe, don't pop these breakouts or they will scar. JUST CONTROL YOURSELF
-
How to prepare so you ready for your next cycle?
- Twice daily face washing and use of OTC treatments can help prevent future breakouts.

Watch the sugary stuff....Maintaining a low glycemic index diet (low sugars) helps regulate hormonal acne. Watch out for the sugary foods, drinks, white breads and other highly processed foods
